This characterful bronze head is probably a member of the French Parliament done by Honore Daumier 1808-1879. His typical, somehow caricaturistic expressions are well executed in this sculpture. Although this sitter is not known, his features exemplify many of the character heads the French sculptor created. This bronze is mounted on a square marble base. The sculpture, which is monogrammed - H.D. - comes from the estate of Henry Alexander Count of Salm-Hoogstraeten in Tuxedo Park, New York.
