17th Century Dutch Old Master Painting Adriaen van Ostade 1610-1685

Period genre painting in oil on a hand planed oak panel. It depicts a scene of peasants gathering around a musician in a rustic interior. It is painted in the typical 17th century Dutch interior style. The panel is signed on the reverse. Adriaen van Ostade, a pupil of Frans Hals, was a Dutch Golden Age painter of genre works. In addition to the signature on the back, there are two Dutch labels and a wax seal affixed. The seal provides the identity of ownership used in the 17th century. This rare wax seal originates from the period of William II and dates around 1650.  Condition is good. The split panel is repaired and stabilized with a canvas strip. Wear commensurate with age. Minor surface scratches. The painting is housed in a later Dutch style frame.
