18th Century French Rococo Painting by Francois Boucher, Follower.

This idyllic pastoral oil painting shows Boucher’s impact on this follower artist. A group of shepherdess’ and harlequins in a flirtatious mood frolic in a woodland scene. This work expresses the taste of the French Rococo in the 18th century. The artist used a high-toned palette, favoring blues and pinks to emphasize the silk dress. The oil painting on canvas from the late 18th century is relined at an earlier time. It is housed in a fine Roman carved and giltwood frame of a later date. It is a beautiful lighthearted pastoral painting in good condition.
