18th century Italian Baroque carved and polychrome flanking Angels.
 
A stunning pair of 18th century hand carved and polychrome angels of Italian origin. These two beautiful holy flanking angels are a true pair. They once adorned a sculptural center altarpiece. Each stands 15 inches tall looking downward with arms crossed over the chest. This work of devotion has been masterfully executed. The polychrome is finished in gold over red bole. The pose and modeling of the flanking angels suggest the hand of a gifted artist.
 
The carving is in good antique condition. Wear consistent with age and use.
