19th Century Antique Chinese Famille Rose White Porcelain Warrior Rides Azure, Dragon of the East, Handled bowl.
 
This ribbed circular vessel is unmarked and dates to the mid-19th century.  It features a hand painted Famille Rose design depicting Chinese Warriors and the azure dragon of the East.  The landscape, on white background with gold banding at top and bottom rim and handle nubs, features a warrior riding the azure dragon while other warriors threaten with spears.  The azure dragon represents the East and is said to control the rain and wind.     
 
Condition:
Both metal handles are present, but the original lid is missing. There are small chips and flea bites on the inside rim. (see photos).  Regular wear due to age and use.
