19th Century Bronze Statuette of Achilles After the Antique
 
This 19th century bronze statuette of Achilles the Greek hero of the Trojan war is pictured in an attack pose with shield and spear. This Grand Tour souvenir, after the ancient Greek original from about 500 B.C., is excellently casted with smooth finishing and intricate details. It is mounted on a Siena marble plinth. The bronze base is illegibly signed. Good antique condition with a rich brown patina. The spear is missing. Marble base has chips on all four corners.
