Architectural models were made by apprentices or master craftsmen to apply for the master title by their carpenter guild. This work was certainly created by a European journeyman. A journeyman moved from one town to another to gain the experience of different workshops, which became an important part of the training of an aspirant master. After completing the journeyman years one would be allowed to produce a “Masterpiece“ and present it to the guild. This tradition dates back to Medieval times. This antique roof model carries associations with modern abstract pieces and is an example of the mastery of proportions.
