19th Century French Vieux Paris Hand-Painted Porcelain Vase Mounted as Table Lamp on Gilt Brass Swan Base.
A striking mid-19th-century French Vieux Paris (Old Paris) porcelain bridal vase, beautifully preserved and artfully mounted as a custom table lamp.
The flared porcelain body features an exceptionally fine, hand-painted pastoral vignette on the face. The composition depicts a young girl in a bed of golden hay, among puppies and a toy spaniel. An ornate, symmetrical parcel-gilt cartouche is accented by gold floral sprays on the reverse. scrolling relief handles flank both sides. The scalloped rim and contoured body are heavily accented with gilding.
The porcelain sits nested within an antique gilt-brass architectural mount. The base features four cast swan-neck figural supports complete with webbed feet.
Lamp is working and in very good antique condition, consistent with age and use. Minor expected rubbing to the gilt highlights. Porcelain remains free of chips, cracks, structural repairs, or hairline fractures. Lamp shade is not included.
