A truly remarkable architectural stone fragment. The 18th century Japanese
Buddhist divinity Jizo is hand carved from volcanic rock. The Jizo Bodhisattva
is considered a protector of children and travelers. The incredible carving of this
deity, standing against a pillar, has rough edged sides. The sculpture is set in an
specially made carved wood base.
Good antique weathered condition.
