Scottish Regency Style Pair Ebonized Giltwood Palatial Jardinieres Sotheby’s Provenance.
 
Fabulous and incredibly elaborate Scottish Regency style hand carved pair of palatial jardinieres. These plant stands are handcrafted by highly talented artisans and they represent the most exceptional quality and design. The basins rest atop a trio of gracefully curved legs, raised on a tripod base. The ebonized and gilded wood is decorated with large acanthus leaves. These magnificent sculptural jardinieres are truly extraordinary. They are in very good condition with some expected and appropriate evidence of age. The interior of the basin shows minor flaking due to aging and the past use of plant decoration.
This pair of planters was sold at Sotheby’s auction New York October 11, 1996.
