Abstract expressionist painting pictures two portraits in profile. It is executed in mixed media including encaustic medium on board. It is believed this painting belongs to the circle of the important Italian Cubism artist, Afro Basaldella. Comparing the distinctive style, technique and color palette, characterized by distorted form, it is closely related to Basaldella Artworks. It mimics his soft, luminous field of color and transparency. (Compare with the unsigned Basaldella painting “Composizione 1947”)
