Antique Black Forest Swiss Schwarzwalder Folk Art Hand Carved Matchstick Holder Striker.
 
Simple adorable petite and pristine. Circa 1890s, beautifully carved with attention to detail.  This matchstick holder with striker carving features a basket with a bird in generous black forest woodland hand carved artistry. In the 1800s Swiss wood carvers became world renowned and these folk-art works were featured at many international exhibits.  The circular plate on the front of the base is the striker.
Very good/excellent untouched condition. light wear, a few rubbed edges.
