Antique Japanese Arita Hand Painted Porcelain Vase Baluster Lamp.
This antique Japanese Arita, Imari style porcelain vase is converted to a lamp. The baluster shaped ceramic features a vibrant palette of colorful hand-painted designs and a brilliant gold gilding. The base and neck are adorned with geometric and honeycomb designs. The body is decorated in nature inspired imagery with circular cartouches of robust florals balanced by a pair of mythological animal head handles (likely foo dogs or lions heads). The hand handwritten kanji inscription translates the porcelain’s origins to a shop in Tokyo, Japan and the giltwork technique employed. The lamp is mounted on a wood carved base
