This is an original and decorative 19th or early 20th century Indian jewelry or dowry chest. It is in pyramidal shape with fanciful brass hardware. The chosen wood is mahogany, which gives this box a very rich look. The domed lid is hinged to the box and has a handle on the top. There is a lock mounted on the front. 
 
Normal aged wear. The lid corner covers seems to be missing. No key.
