17th century Dutch Old Master painting with provenance, Barnyard with farm animals and peasants.

This Dutch oil on canvas painting is a jewel among the genre scenes. Although it is unsigned, an old label on the back, attrib. to CUYP (Benjamin Gerritsz Cuyp (1612 - 1652). Typical for him, the painting has all the characteristic technics. The luministic, transparent, brownish tonality and the dramatic lighting indicate his hand. The use of the brown paint underlayer makes the light and dark contrast even stronger.

The provenance is impeccable. From the estate of Henry Alexander Count of Salm-Hoogstraeten. Tuxedo Park, New York.

Condition: The painting is relined. There is small hole in the sky area and two small scratches on the upper right. The frame is new.
