American Ashcan School portrait painting of a woman of color. The unattributed oil on canvas painting was created about 1925. This portrait depicts a young woman dressed in red against a pale green background. She looks to her right, away from the viewer, with a neutral, almost questioning gaze on her face. The portrait could have been painted as a study.
Condition is very good commensurate with age and use. The wood and gilt lined frame is from the period.
