English Doulton Lambeth Style Salt Glaze Whiskey Barrel - Water Cooler By Powell, Bristol
 
Antique Victorian salt glazed stoneware whiskey barrel adapted into a lamp. The golden brown colored water cooler is beautifully decorated with hand applied design elements in high relief with great details. The prominent Royal Coat-of-Arms, with a lion on the left and a unicorn on the right, has floral motives on each side. Top and bottom are embellished with a band of grapes on the vine with leaves. There is a vent hole at the top and a number, “3” (gallon?) is impressed on the side. This is a serious keg of considerable age with a great look. Condition is good with a minor chip to the spout. The barrel has a wood base and is adapted into a lamp. The two light bulb sockets are controlled by separate pull chain switches.
