English Genre Romantic Landscape, Large Oil Painting in Newcomb-Macklin Frame.
 
This beautiful painting, ca.1900, defines Great British landscape art.  It depicts ordinary activities of daily life against a backdrop of natural scenery with rural charm. The picturesque group of people with horse and cart are brightly lit against the shaded trees. The artist, influenced by Constable, is using relatively loose and open brushwork. He has masterfully captured the idyllic English landscape. 
The large painting is unsigned and housed in an impressive Newcomb-Macklin frame.
 
The condition is very good.
