English George ll Mahogany Rectangular Tripod Tilt Top Tea Table c.1790
An exceptionally rare late 18th century mahogany rectangular tripod tilt-top table. The larger size qualifies it as a tea table. The top is resting upon a turned pedestal with tripod base and voluted legs. This George ll c.1790 table is beautifully crafted with sophisticated mahogany wood. The inscrolled or voluted legs make it a rare example. Another table with a closely related base and rectangular top is illustrated in R. Edwards and P. Macquoid - The Dictionary of English Furniture 1927 (Vol lll, p.198).
Condition: Good. Color on the top is slightly faded. Some spots to top. (pics)
