English Regency Style Mahogany and Satinwood Inlaid Carlton House Desk.
Circa 1880 rare Carlton House desk, typical for the Regency period, is a beautiful piece of furniture. It is exquisitely made of exotic woods and inlaid with rich decorations. A brass gallery runs around the outer edge of the structure. The desk stands on eight tapered legs ending in brass caps. The leather writing surface is flanked by two inlaid boxes. Inlay on the sides and on the back enable free standing. The desk is named after Carlton House, which was the London residence of the Prince of Wales. A similar desk was shown in the TV Series, “Downton Abbey”
Condition is very good. Leather writing surface shows wear commensurate with age.
