Federal Style Inlaid Mahogany Ladies Tambour Writing Desk & Secretary.
An elegant Federal style ladies tambour writing desk and secretary. This classical two-piece case piece is modeled after the iconic Boston and New England designs of the early 19th century, famously pioneered by cabinetmakers John and Thomas Seymour.
The upper cabinet features a tripartite layout, centered by a single hinged mahogany prospect door flanked by a pair of smoothly operating reeded tambour slatted doors. The lower section features a fold-out writing surface inset with green felt. The lower case houses two large, full-width graduating storage drawers. The structure is elevated by four slender, square tapering legs detailed with fine string borders. Very Good antique condition. The piece remains structurally sound with functional mechanical components.  Minor, localized age-appropriate surface abrasions and light wear consistent with careful historic use.
