French 12th - 14th Century Bronze Corpus Christi Crucifix
 
Rare and captivating bronze cast and chiseled Corpus Christi. The bronze, solid casted corpora sculpted body of the crucified Christ is of outstanding quality. Crucifixes of this time were made to be attached to the crosses that graced the churches' altars. Corpora were preserved, even after they had been detached from their crosses. The fabulous patinated bronze corpus is mounted on a later display stand. Wear commensurate with age. Circa 12th - 14th Century.
