French impressionist Fauvist oil painting by Paul Lucien Maze (1887-1979)
 
Period Fauvist painting executed by the French artist, Paul Lucien Maze. He was a lifelong friend of Winston Churchill. Maze and Churchill would paint together in England and France. The artists Andre Derain and Paul Vuillard also kept a close friendship with Maze. Influenced by the Impressionist school, his paintings show aggressive application in unique strength and style. This painting is housed in the original frame.
