Large fascinating painting by Indian artist, Shankar Balwant Palsikar (1917-1984), a leading and influential artist in India. He belonged to the J.J.School of Art in Bombay. The school, established in 1878 is ever since the most prestigious art institution in India. The painting is in oil on canvas laid down on masonite. A label on the back indicates the gallery and framer, CHEMOULD, D.R. Pundole. According to the Chemould gallery, this painting was framed there in the early 60’s. The painting is dated ‘46 and signed with a MIRO inspired signature.
Condition is very good.
