Inuit Stone Seal Sculpture Carving by Pauta Saila (1916 - 2009)
 
Excellent and smooth polished stone carving of a seal. It is perfectly sculpted in a reclining position with its head lifted. An expressive face with nostrils and beard, shows great character. The underside is signed with letters, numbers and syllabics. This is the signature of Pauta Saila; an Inuit Eskimo from the Northwest Territories, Ontario, Canada.
Condition is very good.
