Italian 17th Century Etching after Federico Barocci 1535-1612
This is Barocci’s rare image of, “Womna wrapped in cloths”, page 79 and probably from a folio. The logo “Studio Vigilante “ was chosen by Barocci to illustrate his life. Barocci’s few etchings prove to be very popular. The work is owned by the historic Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milano, Italy, founded in 1609 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo. The etching is printed on handmade laid paper. This is an untrimmed sheet with lettering. It is laid down on cardboard. Embellished with gold lines and handmade marbled paper borders. The artwork is glazed, matted and housed in a high quality frame. It is in very good condition.
