Large Important Japanese Meiji Satsuma Covered Urn with Foo Dog
 
Large impressive Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma porcelain covered urn. A curtain design, modeled and raised in relief, covers the upper portion of the urn. The richly gilded and textured surface is hand decorated with finely polychrome enamel painted scholars and logan scenes. A majestic and detailed Foo dog is placed on the top of the lid. The large urn is outstanding and represents the highest standards of Satsuma ware.
