Late 19th Century Portrait of Franz Liszt. Framed Oil on Board
 
A portrait study of the visage of Franz Liszt (1811-1886).   The painting in oil on board is a good likeness by an experience hand with a miniaturist quality in a muted palette. The small portrait is housed in a period frame.
 
This famous musician was an extraordinary composer who created an entire style of music and a brilliant concert pianist.  A much-admired figure in society, he changed to become a priest in his later years.  
 
Condition: The painting is unsigned and in very good antique condition.  Wear due to age and use.
