Pair of French Louis XV Style Carved and Caned Fauteuils with X-Form Stretchers.

An exceptional pair of mid-20th-century French Louis XV-style carved and caned open armchairs (fauteuils), showcasing a refined marriage of provincial charm and classic Rococo proportions.

Crafted from premium solid hardwood with a warm, glowing honey-toned finish, each armchair features a serpentine-molded frame punctuated by hand-carved floral cartouches at the crest rail and a coordinating low-relief shell motif across the scalloped front apron. The backs and wide, accommodating seats are fitted with expertly woven, natural caning that has been well preserved. Distinctive undulating armrests with carved scrolled knuckles flow down to elegant cabriole legs terminating in scrolled whorl feet. Uniquely, the legs are conjoined by a robust yet graceful X-form stretcher centered by a turned roundel finial.

Condition: Very Good (Consistent with age and light use). Frames are structurally sound and stable. The original caning remains remarkably taut and intact across all sections, displaying a beautiful amber patina with surface wear to the finished wood finish.)
