Rare 17th Century Dutch Delft Polychrome Majolica Tile, Provenance

Magnificent 17th century Dutch Delft majolica tile with polychrome decoration. It features a robust huntsman in the woods with a shouldered musket. This tile was salvaged from the famous Palm Beach Gilded Age mansion, Playa Riente, owned by Anna Dodge, the car manufacturer. Playa Riente was demolished in the 60’s. The contents, including the tiles, were sold at Christie’s auction. This tile, from about 1650, is considered a museum piece. Similar tiles can be found at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Good antique condition. The tile is mounted in a strong wood box frame. A hand written provenance is attached to the back of the frame.
