Romantic Italian oil painting oval landscape on wood, 1829, signed. This 19th century fine quality landscape is painted with an extremely detailed view from the dark brown foreground with rocks and ruins down to the city of Rome. It is executed in the manner of the Romantic Italian School. The vivid landscape depicts a far reaching view of the city with St. Peter’s Basilica in the distance. A lone figure walks on a path. This work is an artistic accomplishment. The artist has clearly studied Classical Antiquity to become a master of detailed landscape painting.
