Vintage Chinese carved cinnabar red lacquer box. Republic period
 
Pumpkin shaped cinnabar lacquer box. Symmetrical six-lobed cinnabar lacquer container resembles a flattened pumpkin with curved stem. Each panel has been carved in blossom and leaf motifs. The interior and the base is lacquered black. Provenance can be traced back to circa 1950 when this box was purchased from the Department Store W & J Sloane in New York.
 
Condition is good. Bottom half inside has minimal use and wear. Measurements: Diameter 6” x height 4”
